David Thielman, Director of Music
David Thielman was an assistant organist for St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception since 2006, and St. Jude since 2013, and he still continues to serve both parish churches in some capacity. He graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. A year ago, he conducted a performance for St. Jude’s Christian Music Café with a selected group from the St. Jude Choir. He is also educating himself on the Church’s sacred liturgical tradition on the Mass and the liturgical tradition of church music, reading up on official Church documents related to these things, along with relevant books and online articles. David’s influences in liturgy and sacred music include St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Pius X, Pius XII, Pope Benedict XVI, and Cardinal Robert Sarah. David looks forward to serving at the Catholic Student Center. Conscious of students having numerous school assignments, he wishes to make the music ministry an enjoyable venue for choristers to sing, and at the same time, participate at Mass. In regard to music, many of David’s favorite music hail from the sacred musical traditions of the Renaissance and Baroque eras, with some from the Classical and Romantic eras, and some tasteful contemporary secular music.
