Father Vaccaro, Chaplain & Director of Campus Ministry

Father Vaccaro is a native Virginian and comes from a family of nine. Ordained a priest on June 14, 2008, he served in two parishes before coming to the University of Mary Washington in 2014.  His younger brother, Father Stephen, was ordained in 2017 and his older brother, Brother Brian, is studying for the priesthood with the Redemptorists.  He very much enjoys teaching about the beauty of the Catholic faith, while relating it to daily life.  He is a fan of the New York Yankees and refereeing basketball.  Contact Father at


Katrina Oteyza, Associate Campus Minister

Katrina Oteyza was a Campus Missionary with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) for two years at the University of Mary Washington. She previously worked as Regional Coordinator for the Office of Social Ministries in the Diocese of Richmond. She is excited to be back on UMW campus as Associate Campus Minister.  She is also working towards a Master’s Degree in Catechetics and Evangelization from Franciscan University Steubenville.  She also enjoys painting and admiring beauty in nature. She’s a big fan of our Blessed Mother, St. Therese of the Little Flower, St. Teresa of Calcutta and St. John Paul II. Contact Katrina at

Sarah Taylor, Associate Campus Minister

Sarah is from North Carolina and worked in ministry for over 7 years now including in campus ministry, as a youth minister, and in a mission house in Cambodia. She loves her Catholic Faith, being active and seeing the beauty of God in nature, and traveling all over the world.  She looks forward to serving our ministry, sharing her gifts and talents with you, and growing in Faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ in the process! She graduated from Belmont Abbey with a major in Biology, a minor in Theology and for her Master's, she is studying at Franciscan University in Catechetics and Evangelization. Contact Sarah at


Kathreja Sarfati, Administrative Assistant

Kathreja, also known as “Kat”, was born in Washington DC, primarily raised in the West Coast in Oregon due to her family’s Army background. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Loyola University of New Orleans and resides with her husband in King George. For fun, she loves to do creative projects and volunteering at science fiction and anime conventions. Her favorite saints are St. Michael the Archangel and St. Francis Xavier. Contact Kat at

Carmel R. Domingue, Bookkeeper

Carmel Domingue, a native of Louisiana and the youngest of eight received her education at Louisiana State University and Irvine Valley College in Accounting and Finance. Her accounting career began in California, and where she met her husband of 27 years. She cherishes life because of her strong Catholic faith in God and family. Over the years, she has shared her time and talents volunteering and fundraising within the military communities, non-profit charities, schools and parishes as it’s her passion of helping others, especially God’s children.She enjoys traveling and sports, but especially cheering her son and daughter in all their endeavors. She resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia with her husband, daughter and two Miniature Schnauzers, while her son is away at college. David Thielman, Director of Music

David is the Music Director for the St. John Bosco Center Choir and Ensemble. He is also an assistant organist for St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception and St. Jude, both of which are located in Fredericksburg. David graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He is educating himself on the Church’s sacred liturgical tradition on the Mass and the liturgical tradition of church music, reading official Church documents related to these things, along with relevant books and articles. Conscious of students having numerous school assignments, he wishes to make the music ministry an enjoyable venue for students to sing, and at the same time, participate at Mass. Contact David at
