Welcome back students! We are so grateful and full of joy to have you back. We pray for a great semester and hope you take advantage of all the opportunities you have here at the center to grow deeper in your Faith and grow closer to our Lord, especially at daily Mass, adoration, and prayer in the chapel. He is always waiting for you to come, offer over the joys and worries of the day, and find peace with Him no matter what happens throughout your semester.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAPLAIN AND THE STAFF
This past week was the March for Life, where we took a group of students to stand up against all crimes against life and show that all life has dignity and value given by our Lord. This week in honor we will give a highly abridged breakdown of the Theology of the Body and then expand on it next week leading up to Father Vaccaro’s first Sunday Talk! The Theology of the Body is a compilation of Sunday Audiences that Saint Pope John Paul II gave in Rome between 1979-1984 during his pontificate.
The first point to make is that you were made on purpose. All people are unique, have value, and are created by a God who loves them. You are created not because God needed you, but because He desired you. You were created out of love.
The second point to make is that when you were made, you were made in the image and likeness of God. This means that the way God is created as a trinity and we are created for marriage, as man and woman and child is on purpose and a thus, a reflection of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Because we are made in His image and likeness.
The third point is that you are made both body and soul. They cannot be separated. This means that you are equally your soul and equally your body. Some people on campus might deny the importance of the body or completely ignore their spiritual life, but both components are reflections of God.
Which leads to the fourth point, which is that what you do with your body matters. We like to think sometimes only our soul and spiritual life matters and neglect our body. Or on the other side neglect the spiritual life and think only the body matters. But our actions make the invisible, visible. Our bodies have the ability to reveal the soul within. Christ came in a body and shows us the value and worth of our bodies and the eventual purpose of our bodies, which is self-sacrifice and love for the other.
And finally, Jesus reveals the greatest secret of God. This is that God is love. Christ shows us what to do with our body and soul. He shows us how we love truly or how we love improperly by using one another as objects for personal gain or pleasure. Christ shows us how to use our bodies as said before and shows us how, as we are made in the image and likeness of God, and God being love, how we too then are made for love. Let us remember through this message of the great St. John Paul II that all people are unique, made in the image and likeness of God, have inherent dignity from God, are desired by God from the beginning of time, have bodies and souls that are reflections of our creator, and have the eventual destiny of being made for love just as our Lord. May we pray for an end to all crimes against life and for our society to finally have a conversion that sees the value in each person. Amen
Have a wonderful Spring semester and know of our daily prayers for each of you!

PRAYER OF THE WEEK FROM LITURGY
Prayer for Aborted Babies
Heavenly Father, Thou hast given us the gift of freedom to love and to follow in Thy ways and commands. Some parents choose to abuse this freedom by destroying the gift of life which Thou hast given to their offspring. Please forgive those who destroy human life by aborting their unborn babies. Give these unborn children the opportunity to enjoy Thee for all eternity, if it according to Thy ordinance. Assist me in being one in solidarity with Thy little ones by taking to heart the words of Thy Son, "Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of Mine, you did for Me." (Mt. 25:40) Therefore, allow me today, Father, to adopt spiritually an unborn child and to offer my prayers, works, joys and sufferings for that little one, so that child will be able to be born and live for Thy greater honor and glory. We pray this in Jesus' name, in union with the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever. Amen.
I hope everyone had a relaxing break and a good first week of classes. Our first Fun Friday will be this Friday 1/25 at 9pm in Lee Hall 411. It will be a Harry Potter themed night. There will be Harry Potter themed food and activities including a costume contest! We will be dividing up into the Hogwarts houses and the winning house will get to decide which Harry Potter movie we all watch at the end of the night! I hope to see everyone there!
