a message from our chaplain and the staff
Welcome to our digital bulletin. We pray it is a useful means for you to keep up with all the updates and activities going on at the St. John Bosco Center. This year we are focusing on joy and gratitude. Bishop Robert Barron reflects on detachment from materials things often as the key to real joy and happiness. So many of us are so distracted by the material things in our lives and what we have created as false idols that we cannot be truly happy and recognize the blessings and gifts we are given every day. We equate good feelings and when things are going well in our lives with being blessed by God, but good feelings are not God and for true detachment and freedom we have to come to a point where we can have joy even when things are not going well. This week we can be challenged that even when we have a time when we feel down or things may not be going well to offer it over to God and begin to become detached from the things of this world. Choosing joy and gratitude in these moments is a key way to spiritual success in our relationship with the Lord!
Have a wonderful week and know of my daily prayers for each of you.

Eternal rest grant unto Christian Maimone O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

If you are not going on retreat and are looking for a fun thing to do with your friends come hang out with us!

a message from the social supper table
Looking for a way to grow more in the faith while fostering relationships and enjoying tasty, home-cooked meals? Come on down to Supper Social, held every Thursday at the UMW CCM. This week the UMW CCM will not be having Supper, due to the holy day this Thursday, but we look forward to welcoming you to the next two Supper Socials. The next two socials will feature a talk by Fr. Stefan with a meal cooked by Mrs. Rihl on Nov. 8th with a great nacho bar, and a big Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 15th! We hope to see you at both of these events!

PRAYER OF THE WEEK FROM LITURGY
A Prayer to St. Jude
Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hope.
Please intercede on my behalf. Make use of that particular privilege given to you to bring hope, comfort, and help where they are needed most.
Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven as I work with my challenges, particularly (here make your request). I praise God with you and all the saints forever.
I promise, blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.
TUNE IN TO THE SUNDAY TALK
Thank you to everybody who invited friends to last week’s Sunday Talk about the Unity of Man and Woman. Special thanks to Fr. Vaccaro for providing entertaining and educational stories every week! After the Talk we enjoyed our weekly pilgrimage to the Golden Arches for some ice cream and well-done fries. We will not have a talk this week because of the Upperclassman Retreat but we hope to see you next week for our talk after Mass at 7:30PM in Lee Hall 411 followed by our trip to McDonalds near the Spotsylvania Shopping Center. Free ice cream on us for any new person who would like to join us!
